Fear

Half asleep but with a look of fear still present in her eyes, Sandy stared into the bathroom mirror. Her right cheek displayed the remnants of pillow wrinkles and still revealed a telltale sign of the drool that escaped her mouth during the night as she slept. Sleep hadn’t come easy for Sandy that entire weekend. In fact, this was the worst weekend she could remember having since her Grandmother passed away. Sandy looked into the mirror only to see an unsympathetic face filled with anxiety staring back at her.

“Just call in sick,” she commanded to her own image in the mirror. “Better yet, why don’t you just quit, that’ll fix that Bozo of a boss. I’m the best Inside Sales person our company has. They’ll miss me when I’m gone.”

The coldness of the water on her hands coming from the faucet she had turned on brought Sandy’s thoughts back to reality. She knew she couldn’t “Just Quit.” She was a single Mom and they paid her a good salary.

“Besides,” she thought, “I’ve got ten years with this company. They shouldn’t treat me this way. What am I going to do?”

What caused Sandy to be so upset? What caused her to lose so much sleep over the weekend? What filled her with anxiety and fear? What made her consider giving up a ten-year career as an Inside Sales person?

“MANDATORY OUTCALL”

Although this little story is fictional, many of your employees may have experienced or be experiencing these same exact feelings.

“FEAR OF MAKING PERSONAL CONTACT WITH THE UNKNOWN”

Outcall is an exceptionally good Marketing/Sales tool if it is done right. There is a lucky few that can just pick up the phone, make a cold call and it comes naturally to them. But for most of your employees, making that call is the most unpleasant and difficult task you could possibly ask them to do. It’s actually unfair to send them onto the “Outcall Battlefield” without arming them with the proper weapons. Those weapons are generated through training. It’s true that for some people Outcall is no big deal. It’s also true that for some people no matter what you do, or how much training you provide, they just wont be able to do it successfully.

However, for the vast majority of the Inside Sales people and Call Center Agents employed in this country today, Outcall training can be extremely beneficial. A solid outcall program with trained personnel can provide a major impact to revenue and bottom line profits. Think about it. If you have only five inside sales people making ten outcalls per day, that totals 250 calls per week which equates to 1000 new proactive customer contacts per month.

It has been said: “You can send a gorilla out as a field sales rep and if he calls on enough people, sooner or later someone will pin an order to his chest and send him home.”

With the sheer volume of contacts alone, sales have to increase. Think about the significant contribution your inside sales people can provide if they are trained and really know what they are doing. Add a new account bonus program to the formula and results can be astounding.

MLM Recruiting – The REAL Reasons Why People Join Network Marketing Companies

If there was a way that you could guarantee to explode your MLM recruiting, and touch people in such a way that most would follow you to the moon if you went…

Would that be of interest?

Whether you are online, or offline, (and again, still, almost 90% of all recruiting takes place offline.) This article will help give you an idea that literally exploded my business once I learned it, and I was blessed with a SCORCHING recruiting ratio for years and years in Network Marketing.

What is “Recruiting Beyond the MLM Business?”

Before we get to that, let’s go over what we at PassionFire call “The Empowerment Void” in most folk’s lives.

What is that?

Learn This next Axiom of MLM Recruiting, and change your own life as well as others.

Most people, go their whole life without once ever being told they could truly succeed, that they had it in them to do great things, and worse, no one has ever taken the time to show them they care enough to help or show them how.

And most people today are STARVING for someone to help them get beyond where they are in life — in debt up to their eyeballs, and going on a treadmill of repeated mistakes that they just cannot seem to break.

They are looking beyond where they are now to try to do something with their life. That’s where you come in and an MLM home business.

We teach that you must in recruiting touch a person’s heart before they will touch your application. People want to feel good about their life, future, and working with you.

That is why you must “Recruit Beyond the MLM Business.” That’s where their true interest lies, not working with you, as much as you working with them to help them get out of the “Rut Jungle” and rat race.

How do you do it?

With your Focus.

Focus on what the Network Marketing business can bring to their life, beyond the business. You must bring to their life a Vision BIGGER than the business!!! What would that be?

A Radical, Life changing, revelation so powerful they will never be the same Vision that motivates them to go on a life Changing Crusade!

Or something so simple as:

The difference in their thinking it will make.

The difference in their Personal growth it will make.

The Increase in Self Esteem it will make.

What it can bring to their life financially.

The Learning that will occur to help them in their Passion.

What they can teach their kids to give them a better chance at having a great life.

How their perception of what can happen in their life will change.

And most important: The Person they want to become, they WILL become, through the growth, maturing, and increase in ALL aspects of their life. Through what they will Learn, Ignite, and Evolve into with your Network Marketing business.

Ask them: “If you learned to handle people better, how would that help you in Life?”

‘If you became a more disciplined person, would that help you in Life?”

“If you became a more Powerful communicator, what difference would that make?”

And the “5 Power Words of Vision in MLM Recruiting:

“Imagine the feeling of this:” (Name a Benefit…)

“Imagine the feeling of People being riveted to what you have to say because they want to Listen due to HOW you are saying it. How would that feel?”

“Imagine the feeling of being in a Position to have the resources to help a great friend in need. How would that feel?”

“Imagine the feeling of knowing absolutely nothing could stop you if you decided to do succeed at something. How would that help you?”

People would follow you to the moon if you are Sincere, Authentic, and Truly Care about taking the Time to help Put their Life on Track to Their Dreams and what they View as Success.

Too many people are “Recruiting Beyond Their Bank Account.” They are focused on what that person can bring to their bank Account, verses what they can bring to that person’s life.

True. Money drives a lot of the business. But would you rather CHASE the Money, or ATTRACT it?

MLM Millionaire’s Secret.

MLM Millionaires in this Business didn’t Chase the Money. It was Attracted to them. Through Helping others. (Yes, I know their are exceptions, and Mean Spirited people do exist, but as a general rule.) That is what Recruiting MagneTechs(sm) is all about.

Learning the Power of ATTRACTING Success, Not Chasing It.

And people are attracted like a magnet on steroids to a BETTER, BIGGER, and BOUNTIFUL Life.

And recruiting Beyond the Business in Summary is this:

Show How your Business can help people in their Life, with Results and benefits beyond the Network Marketing Business.

If you just caught what i just wrote, your paycheck will be growing beyond your dreams in MLM and Network Marketing Recruiting.

Blessings

Rehab Your Way to Wealth – The Quick Way to Fixer-Upper Success

Completely rebuilding a house is not necessary to make money in investment real estate. Most times, if you have bought smart, you won’t have to make a huge improvements on your investment property. Look for places that need only a small amount of work. For example, look for a property that appears to be run down from the outside, but does not need major repair. Here are a few tips for saving money and making quick improvements, in order to quickly sell your rehab property.

1. A house may need a coat of paint but have a nice roof. The paint might cost a few hundred dollars, while a new roof might cost $2,000 to 3,000. Plus, a fresh coat of paint makes almost any house look brand new.

2. Check the foundation very carefully. Foundation work is extremely expensive. I would stay away from any house with a questionable foundation.

3. Like exterior paint, landscaping goes very far in terms of curb appeal, one of the biggest factors in the sale of any kind of real estate. A house with uncut grass, weeds overrunning flowerbeds, and poorly trimmed bushes or trees is very difficult to sell. Conversely, a house with minor deficiencies in other areas may still have a buyer, who wants something that looks good from the outside.

4. Look for investment properties that have nice kitchens or kitchens that can become nice with little effort and money. If you can refinish some cabinets and lay some cheap flooring, this will help you sell, because women are instrumental in the final decision of most real estate purchases, and they love nice kitchens. It’s not sexist; it’s a proven real estate fact.

5. A finished basement or one that can be finished easily will also help you sell your new investment property. Basement carpet can be purchased and installed for very little money. Again, some paint on the walls can go a long way to making the basement homier. Add a drop ceiling – easy to install and very inexpensive, and you can have yourself a rec room for a few hundred dollars.

Although these are not the only things that will improve your property, they are a few of the cheapest and easiest. Plus, these are improvements that will increase your investment property’s value exponentially and make it easy to sell.

Network Marketing Training – MLM Success Secrets to SCORCHING MLM Leadership

As far as your Network Marketing business, Let me ask you some questions:

1) What is going to be the driving force in your business in the future?

2) What is going to be the catalyst for taking your business to the next level and beyond?

3) What is going to ignite a success inferno in your business and stoke it every week?

4) What is going to create a downline wildfire of growth in your business?

5) What is going to direct, navigate and guide you through the challenges that lie ahead this year?

These are tough questions and it may take a little time to ponder them. To save time, perhaps I can offer some assistance here — the answer should be just one word, and one word only for all five questions.

That word is going to be the defining factor in your ultimate success or lack of it. The answer is the kerosene that fuels a fire storm of success in your downline and your life if you let it. It is written on the walls of the successful distributors’ hearts, branded in their minds, and reflected in their eyes.

It is the catalyst for higher performance in anything, and can create more success in your business than you ever imagined. I know what I am talking about because it drove my Networking business for over ten years and those of all the successful people I know. It attracts success and wealth like a magnet on steroids, and contains all the secrets of creating wealth in this business.

Anything that has been written about this business points to this enormous power in some way. It worked so well in the organization I was honored to be a part of that, and I’ve devoted my professional life, through PassionFire International, to taking the message to the industry worldwide.

What is this answer, this message, I’m alluding to? Leadership — true, pure, unbridled leadership — the most powerful force in Network Marketing success.

We have a saying at PassionFire: “Passion is the Secret Weapon to Success, and Leadership is the Secret Weapon to Network Marketing.”

When passion ignites, it can melt anything that gets in its way passionate leadership is like an electric power station with focused, contained power that can explode anything it touches. That’s the power that will create new millennium millionaires in this industry. Truly, no amount of instruction, training, or teaching will ever equal the explosive success power of passionate leadership!

I know a lot of well-educated, well-intentioned folks who know the mechanics of this business — all the right words, phrases and answers that sound great — but are barely getting by. They have incredible potential, but lack the leadership focus and heart that their downline is starving for in their success journey.

Do you realize your people are looking for MLM leadership? There is nothing sadder in this industry than when an organization that explodes with momentum eventually outgrows the distributor due to lack of leadership, and falls apart, piece by piece, day by day. This happens all the time! But it doesn’t have to. In this new millennium, we can change that. To that end, I’ve changed my understanding of what MLM stands for — for me, from now on it stands for: Moving Leadership Momentum!

For Moving your business, create Momentum with Leadership! All leaders know how important momentum is in this business — especially for the new distributor! With passionate leadership, you can create that momentum in your group. The first step is understanding what leadership means in Network Marketing.

Defining Network Marketing Leadership

Leadership is a set of skills, strategies, attitudes, and beliefs that we engage consistently, daily, and fervently for everyone’s benefit. To define it specifically for our industry:

Leadership in Network Marketing is boldly taking on the responsibilities and commitments of creating an empowering environment and a path to success that people willingly follow.

Go back and read that one more time and notice how it makes you feel. Are you that kind of leader? Are you doing that for others? Let’s take a closer look at that definition… .

The first power word in the definition above is bold. Leaders in this business are willing to step up to the bat, see what has not been seen, think what has not been thought, say what has not been said, and do what has not been done. That is a vivid, technicolor “word picture” of Network Marketing leaders. They are bold in their thinking, their vision, their words, and their actions. At PassionFire we teach that BOLD stands for Bringing On Leadership Destiny!

Boldness creates a destiny of success while timidity is like a cancer in this business. Leaders get out on the edge and stay there, empowering others to join them. Are there people who think you can’t succeed? Do what you have not done before, think like you have never thought before, and accomplish what you `ve only dreamed before — it takes bold leadership to show them what’s possible in Network Marketing.

Next, note the word responsibility. Leaders understand the weight of responsibility, and do not shirk from it. They know that someone has to take action to make anything happen, and they accept that task willingly. They know what they are responsible for as well as what they are not.

For example, leaders know that ultimately they are not responsible for their distributors’ success. They are responsible for educating them to do this business, preparing them for the challenges that might arise, and supporting them along the way, but each distributor must engage and embrace their own success.

It’s not unlike being a personal fitness trainer. The trainer can teach her clients how to lift weights, why to lift and when to lift, but they must do the lifting and the grunting. If she lifts the weights for them, she’ll get the benefits, not them. They’ll lose interest and say, “Weight lifting doesn’t work!” — sound familiar? Leaders strive to build permanent downlines always. They are willing to dig the pond, fill it with water, stock it with fish and teach you to fish, but the new distributor must cast the line.

The third power word in this definition of leadership is commitment. Commitment is the cement in the foundation of any successful organization. Committed leaders are magnetic, attracting people to them effortlessly. Why? Because leaders know that commitment is less something said or done than felt. It empowers anyone who comes in contact with them because they can feel it.

We all know people in this industry who are sought after and respected, and almost without fail it is because of their unshakable commitment to success, to their people, and to Network Marketing. You will be forced in this business to do things you don’t feel like doing at the time they need doing or with whom they are to be done, but know that it’s your commitment in those times that will determine whether you are followed as a leader or eventually ignored.

Next, consider the word create. If I had to choose only one word to define leadership, this would be it. Put simply, leaders are creators — they create something where there was nothing before. They crystallize the future into a tapestry woven with the threads of dreams, belief, and action.

Leaders create magnetic direction, powerful influence, hope, possibility, and environments for growth. Leaders have the extraordinary ability to see the invisible — the art of vision. They take a thought, and by sharing it with others and asking their help, bring it into existence. They create compelling visions that people can believe in — in Network Marketing, it’s often that most important of beliefs which can change our lives for the better.
The MLM Word CHANGE.

I see change as a sister word of create. Leaders are change agents — they create positive change in people’s lives. They know that change must occur to increase or expand anything. Change creates new directions and perspectives which are what Network Marketing is all about.

Are you starting to see that Network Marketing and leadership are blended so tightly, it’s tough to tell them apart sometimes? Leaders don’t just accept change, they embrace it for themselves and make it part of their message. The power of their approach is in the choice to embrace rather than accept.

The next vital part of this definition is the concept of an empowering environment. In the same way that our environment on earth determines what grows, what thrives, what lives, and what does none of these, so does the environment you create within your organization affect its growth, stagnation, mediocrity, or decline.

It must encourage and foster hope and possibilities, not hype and impossibilities. It must empower people to maximize their strengths. What creates your leadership environment? Your words, your moods, your actions, your consistency, your expectations, your caring, your beliefs, and your attitudes. Is your environment full of sunshine or dark clouds? Is it full of belief or doubt? Maximum empowerment brings maximum growth.

Near the end of the definition is the term path to success. Leaders provide their people with a clear, engaging, step-by-step path to achievement of their goals. In fact, it’s better to think of it not just as a path to success, but also as a part of success. By helping people develop a success awareness — a mindset of focus and power and possibility from the start — you give them a chance to succeed at every stage in the process.

You do this by sharing tools and trainings with them and saturating the environment of your organization with expectancy and anticipation! Be out in front — say “Come on! You can do it, and I’ll show you the way. Few people take the time to celebrate small successes, the unintimidating actions or the seemingly insignificant tasks, but this is one of the most important things you can do for the growth of your organization. It is amazing how recognition and celebration of small victories produce opportunities for celebrating incredible victories.

The final noteworthy phrase above is willingly follow. Do your distributors trust your judgement implicitly? Is it worthy of their trust? Do they follow your lead and promote it to their organizations? New millennium leadership demands and will not settle for anything less than trust between upline and downline. One of the greatest secrets of leadership is that people will be drawn to someone who cares and has the strength to empower that emotion.

People are compelled to follow strength, and I am not just talking about power, but presence with power — and there is a difference. Lots of managers have power, and use it, but don’t have presence. A strong presence is felt, not spoken, and people pick up on it immediately and follow. It works like a magnet in this business.

A leader in this business is someone who is going places and taking excited people with her. You see, people have one question they’ll never ask but are always seeking the answer for: Is this person strong enough to help me achieve what I want in life?

This is what I call the “unspoken determinant,” and if they assess that the answer is yes, get out your flute, because the Pied Piper has arrived on the scene! Strength in leadership comes from not being sold on the business, but sold out to it! You no longer are in the business, the business is in you! This creates a magnetic presence and personal credibility that people feel compelled to follow.

Together, these elements will create a leadership that can drive any business to the heights of success. It all starts with one word — decision. Decision is your catalyst for the leadership you’ve just learned about, the fuse that ignites and creates that power within I call SuccessFire. Decision is the flame that ignites all success in leadership.

Another PassionFire proverb is “Choice determines Direction Decision determines Destiny.” There is only limited power in the word choice, because it is a selection that can be changed. Decision is a mindset, a “heart set” that is steadfast. Let me ask you a new millennium million-dollar question: Have you made a choice to try this business, or a decision to become successful in it? I urge you to lead yourself and your group into the new millennium ignited by the flame of decision — decide to let the kerosene of leadership explode your business into an inferno!

MLM Leadership Quest.

This brings us to a vital aspect of your personal leadership quest. You must learn to lead you first, before you can lead others. The path to leadership success is built first with bricks of personal leadership, then with group leadership. How can people follow anyone who doesn’t display and practice leadership in his own life? You can empower others to boldness, commitment, discipline, and presence only if you display these attributes in your own being.

This is why I mentioned earlier how organizations can outgrow distributors — it happens! Personal leadership comes from personal growth. If you have made a decision to become the best, and are doing the things necessary to engage success beyond your comfort level, you are displaying and building personal leadership. You don’t have to be perfect to be a leader, because ongoing transformation is part of leadership.

Work this business through the eyes of a leader, not just a distributor. There is huge difference! You’ll find that the path to success becomes much more easily traveled through the eyes of leadership.

I encourage you to engage in ongoing mlm leadership development for six months — face to face with a mentor, on a conference call, or in dedicated personal study of the wealth of resources available for the asking. I testify to the impact of this from experience — you’ll cut your attrition in half and your whole organization will feel the dramatic shift in your MLM and Network Marketing.

Blessings… Doug

How To Tell If Your Amazing New Product Idea Is Really Worth Gambling On

Q: I have a great idea for an amazing new product. There is nothing like it on the market and no competition that I can find. I think it will be a huge success and so does everyone I tell the idea to. I’m willing to bet the farm on this one. What do you think my chances of success are?

A: I’m a lousy poker player, mainly because I can’t help grinning like the village idiot when blessed with a winning hand or frowning like a sad clown when dealt a dud.

I also never make odds on the success of “amazing new products” because more often than not the only thing that’s amazing is the way the product is totally ignored by the buying public. In my software business there have been times when we came up with what we thought was an amazing idea for an amazing piece of software – a piece of software so amazing, in fact, that we knew that all mankind would sit up and take notice, then line up to write us checks.

After hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars spent developing the product we were amazed to find that the only people who thought the software was truly amazing was us.

We made mankind yawn. Quite an amazing accomplishment, if I do say so myself.

It worries me that you say there is nothing like your idea on the market. While you may think that is a good thing, it might actually mean that there is no market for your product. The same holds true for a lack of competition. A total lack of competition might mean that there is no demand for such a product.

Rarely does a product come along that revolutionizes an industry. Rarer still does a product create a new industry on its own. So, how can you tell if your amazing new product really is worth gambling on? The truth is, you can never be 100% certain that your idea will sell. No matter how enamored you are of it or how much your friends rave about it, the success of a new idea depends on a number of factors, many of which are beyond your control.

Such factors include:

How to Use the 3 Most Common Direct Marketing Measurements to Increase Your Profits!

John Wanamaker, a 19th century entrepreneur, once famously made the statement, “I know that half of my advertising is wasted, I just don’t know which half.” Fortunately for today’s marketers, there are scientific ways to determine which half is wasted, and which half is not, through the use of common direct marketing measurements.

Advertising is, and has always been, part art and part science. With direct marketing, the science part takes center stage as there are common direct marketing measurements that can be utilized to verify the results of the advertising.

With the increased popularity of direct marketing, the success of advertising can be measured through a variety of common direct marketing methods such as cost per acquisition, cost per piece, and response rate.

Before continuing in describing these common direct marketing measurements in detail, it is beneficial to review one of the direct marketing tools needed to determine the success of the mailing. The most important direct marketing tool is the response mechanism. This is how you can gauge the success, or lack of success, of a direct mail campaign. This is the mechanism by which the prospect will use to respond – it may be a postcard to request more information, an 800 number to call, or a website address to place an order. You can than utilize this response to determine the success of the direct mailing.

The first of the most common direct marketing measurements is the cost per acquisition. The cost per acquisition can be determined by taking the total cost of the mailing and dividing it by the number of responses. For example, let’s say the total cost of a mailing is $2,000 and 20 people respond. The cost per acquisition is $100. This is an important tool to find out if the cost to obtain a new customer is in line with the profits that you will receive.

The second of the most common direct marketing measurements is the cost per piece. To find the cost per piece, you would take the total cost of the mailing and divide it by the total number of pieces sent. For example, if the total cost of the mailing was $4,500 and you sent 2000 direct mail pieces, the cost per piece would be $2.25. This is an important figure to keep in mind, because by lowering the cost per piece (as long as the number of responses stays the same), you can lower the cost per acquisition.

The third of the most common direct marketing measurements is the response rate. The response rate can be calculated by taking the number of people that responded and dividing it by the number of people that were sent the direct mail package. For example, if 2000 people were mailed a direct mail package and 20 people responded, the response rate would be 1%. This is an important tool that you can utilize to forecast the success of future mailings.

By using all three of these common direct marketing measurements, you can finally determine which half of your marketing is working, and which half is not.

Don’t Outsmart Yourself When Selling Your Home

There are always homes that struggle to sell. You may have a very good home in a very good location but still find it difficult to sell. Well, there is always a reason. Here are some common reasons why such homes don’t sell:

Being Over-priced – The foremost reason for many homes not selling is their price. If you’re selling your home, make sure you price it in line with market expectations. Your home’s only worth as much as buyers are willing to pay for it. You may have got a high appraisal value but if you’re struggling to sell your home at that price, you need to realize that your home’s over-priced. You need to look at what other homes in your neighborhood are selling for and how much have recent homes sold for. You can only charge a premium to other homes if your home has any special feature that there is a demand for. Otherwise, do not outsmart yourself by pricing your home higher than what other homes are selling for.

Poor negotiation – Second reason for the fallout of most home sales – poor negotiation. If you get an interested home buyer who’s reached the final stage of negotiating the price, don’t let him go away just because he’s not willing to pay your price. Be a little inventive. Perhaps you could give away some of your furniture or your electronics as part of the deal. Or you could offer him assistance in his down payment. There are a 1001 ways where you can actually give the buyer the feeling that he’s winning the negotiation and getting more than what he initially bargained for.

Thinking people are going to love the house the moment they see it – As wonderful as you may think your house is, there is always room for improvement. Some people are put off by small things, like chipped doors, a messy lawn, patches on the walls, etc. A common mistake is to get too used to seeing the house the way you’ve always seen it. As a result, many of these small things tend to get overlooked. You need to see your house from a fresh perspective.

Now that you’re aware of these common mistakes, make sure you don’t fall into the trap of repeating any of them.

Nine Keys to Make your Sales Copy Convincing

Would you pay $12,500 to discover the keys to great sales copy? Maybe not, but Brian Keith Voiles did. And he put it to use for Fortune 500 Companies.

Stay At Home Work – Creating A Great Home Office Environment

When you begin any kind of stay at home work or home based business, it’s a good idea to put a lot of thought into your stay at home working environment. After that cubicle where you were forced to make good use of your space, it’s easy to spread out and become disorganized. Or worse, not put any thought at all into your stay at home work environment.

For instance, your stay at home business office needs to have its own phone. In many homes, the phone is in a central location where it’s easily accessible. You will waste untold amounts of time and energy if you don’t have a phone for your stay at home job. This is a problem that’s easily solved with a remote phone that you keep in your stay at home business office.

Too, it’s easy to let the office where you perform your stay at home job get cluttered and dirty. After all, you think, no one sees my stay at home work office but me. And that’s exactly why you need to make sure your stay at home office is neat and clean. It reflects professionalism which has a psychological affect of making you feel more professional, which makes it easier to take a more professional attitude toward your stay at home job.

And it doesn’t hurt to decorate your stay at home work office so that it’s a pleasant place for you to be. You’re going to be spending a lot of time in your stay at home work office, so you want to feel comfortable and make it a place you enjoy being in. That enjoyment carries over to your stay at home job and can make it far more enjoyable. So paint the walls a cheerful color that makes you feel good and put up some posters or pictures. Invest in some houseplants. You’ll be amazed at how great a difference making even a few small changes in your stay at home work office will make you feel toward your stay at home job.

Should Affiliates Really Use Blogging and Pinging To Get Indexed

There seems to be a huge craze lately with everyone trying to blog and ping to get their websites indexed into the search engines. Although this can be a great tool, all marketers should first understand exactly what they’re getting themselves into before starting.

This article is to serve as a beginners guide to getting started with blogging and pinging.

1. What is a blog?

A “blog” is short for “web log.” A web log is an online diary or journal. The main aspect blog is that it is frequently updated – at least once a week, sometimes every day or even more.

Since blogs are regularly updated, they tend to carry more value than regular static HTML pages (in some cases).

2. What is a ping?

A ping is a program that sends out a brief request for a response from another computer or server. When you ping on the Internet, you send out a program to see if a remote server is responding.

3. How do bloggers use pings?

Two main reasons to use pings with blogs: First and foremost is to let the search engines know that you have updated your website so they can send their spiders.

Secondly, pings also update the websites on the internet who are using your blog on their site (through a feature called RSS feeds, they are displaying your messages on their site).

4. So what is the big deal about blogging and pinging?

Smart affiliate marketers use blogging and pinging to help get their sites crawled and indexed by the search engine spiders a lot quicker than they normally would.

They set up a blog either on their main site or on a sub-domain of their site. They then post links to their product pages on their blog and send out a ping to all the major servers on the Internet.

That ping says “This site has fresh content, time to go add it to your database!” It’s a trigger that sends the search spiders looking for updated pages on your site. When they find the new pages, search engines tend to index them much faster.

Blogging and pinging will not get you into EVERY search engine overnight. As of this writing, it is most effective with getting into Yahoo. But often MSN, and even Google, will follow in short order.

Combine blogging and pinging with good link recruiting for the best indexing.

Also, blog and ping on a regular basis if you want to “stay” indexed in the search engines.

6. Is blogging and pinging a requirement to get indexed?

No. You can get indexed quickly by getting plenty of natural backlinks. But for backlinks to be most effective, they have to appear as if they were natural and this can take weeks if not months. Blogging and pinging does seem to drastically shorten the process.

7. Is there a downside to blogging and pinging?

Yes, some marketers are starting to abuse this strategy and the engines are getting wise to it! If you go over-board you risk getting your website completely banned and removed.

Also, many marketers are blogging and pinging for a few days and then forgetting about the website – your website will likely be de-indexed if you do not continue to naturally blog and ping.

The bottom line is that blogging and pinging is a great strategy right now to help you get your website indexed faster. However, the old natural way of getting incoming links is still the best and most assured way – not to mention the long-term benefits of having incoming links.

If you have not yet started blogging and pinging, I suggest you start with a practice website first, not your main website.
